Commercial HVAC Sales Representative

Niagara West office / Eastern Ontario territory | Hybrid | $70,000 base plus commission, benefits and RSP match

You understand commercial HVAC projects and can turn a customer conversation into a well-scoped quote. You also enjoy finding new business, making calls and staying involved until the job is won.

An established mechanical HVAC business is seeking a Commercial HVAC Sales Representative to develop its eastern Ontario territory. You will sell across the full product and service offering, including commercial HVAC, heating and refrigeration, with opportunities in various hydronic and technical projects. An in-house engineering team provides technical support.

What you will do

  • Build business across eastern Ontario through cold calling, prospect research, networking and visits to general contractors, facility managers and other customers.
  • Qualify warm leads, understand project needs and develop the next steps toward a sale.
  • Prepare your own quotes, considering list prices, discounts, labour and day rates. Work toward turnaround of 48 hours to one week, depending on complexity.
  • Focus on profitable opportunities, explain solutions and negotiate with a clear understanding of scope and gross margin.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, track your pipeline and follow up consistently.
  • Attend four to five trade shows each year, including some US travel, and turn event conversations into sales opportunities.
  • Attend meetings at the office and coordinate opportunities with engineering, technical colleagues and structural partners.

What you bring

  • Around five years of commercial HVAC sales experience, with exposure to industrial, commercial or institutional projects. Residential-only experience will not meet the requirements.
  • A record of developing new business and managing opportunities through the sales cycle.
  • Confidence making cold calls, meeting customers and representing a business at industry events.
  • The technical ability to prepare quotes and understand pricing, margins and labour requirements. CRM knowledge and strong Excel skills are important
  • A dependable, organized approach to commitments, customer follow-up and communication.
  • An established relevant customer network is an asset, along with patience for relationship-led selling and longer project cycles.
  • A reliable vehicle, a valid passport and availability for customer visits and some US travel.
  • A mechanical engineering or engineering technology background is valuable. Commercial refrigeration technicians seeking a move into sales may also be considered where their technical knowledge and business-development potential are strong.
